urban jungle bloggers

the march issue...spring

For the March edition of the fab Urban Jungle Bloggers series,
by Judith and Igor (see below), the theme is Spring/Easter.
We have two cherry and one quince tree in our garden
and nothing signifies Spring more to me than blossom.

The quince still has a few days before it comes out,
but I managed to get a couple of branches from
the neighbours trees as well as our own!!
The hellebores are thriving, so next time
I'll shoot the pink and the quince together.

Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy my little contribution to UJB-
thanks Igor and Judith
for creating such an inspiring group!

launch...habitat spring/summer 2014

habitat

A simple, pared down approach is the theme for
Habitat's Spring/Summer 2014 collection,
which is split into 5 stories;
 transparent, optic, organic,
functional and
geometric.

Each collection features
a play on material,
colour and texture, but all
sharing Habitat's statement ethos
of fun, affordable and statement design-pieces
that are enduring, inventive and affordable.

Founded in 1964 to make
 outstanding design accessible to all,
Habitat is still a force to be
reckoned with on the high street.
Moving with the times and adapting to
 the nation's changing shopping habits,
they have opened over 16 mini stores nationwide,
as well as 3 London flagship stores.

2012 saw the launch of 'Platform',
an innovative design initiative and
gallery space in the Kings Road store, and now hosts
 design exhibitions throughout the year.

The Habitat blogazine was launched in 2013,
providing image led inspiration in
home decoration, design and
behind-the-scenes stories
for all us die-hard Habitat fans out there.

Here are some of my favourite picks for the Season...
any favourites for you?!

styling details...

urban jungle bloggers...
one plant 3 ways.

Each month, bloggers Igor from Happy Interior
and Judith from Joelix
set a them for their Urban Jungle Bloggers project,
tapping into the current hot trend for plants in the home.

Last month's edition was to style one plant three ways,
and attracted hundreds of fantastic responses,
all of which can be seen on the social media links below.

I was particularly excited to join in with the styling theme,
but with a mad work month and busy kids clubs,
I'm only just posting now-1 whole month late!
I hope you enjoy my little shots!

by Holly Becker & Leslie Schewring

A debut publication for product designer Leslie Schewring and title number 3 in the best selling 'Decorate' series for acclaimed interiors blogger Holly Becker, Decorate With Flowers is a fresh and pretty interpretation of displaying flowers in the home.

Chinese tea tins make stunning flower containers. Washi tape for single blooms on the wall.

Their first publishing collaboration comes across as a real and genuine project between two friends, with a combined passion for its subject matter. Holly and Leslie's well documented love of flowers in their independent projects is the staple ingredient of a shared signature style.

Inspiring wall displays and designs from Leslie's studio.

Based on the advice of two self-confessed flower lovers, rather than flower experts, Holly and Leslie provide simple but clear guides in each introductory section, from tools of the trade, flower and herb types, arrangements, to easy-to-follow step by step projects.

Chapter 8-Black & White-my favourite section in the book.

A striking black & white montage-this is my favourite moodboard.

From then on, the book is split into 8 main chapters, covering colour stories from black & white to neon and themes as varied as market and girly glam. You can also take a peek into the homes of like-minded creatives for whom flowers play an important role, all captured beautifully in Leslie's photography. Images and copy are enhanced with imaginative layouts, hand drawn graphics and themed mood boards. You can also refer to their own personal favourite flowers to use in displays and, of course, a comprehensive resource page to help re-create the displays in your own home.

moodboards...

Strictly speaking this is a montage
 rather than a mood board.
It's a selection of shots I took very early on in the blog,
put together for a client who asked to see some examples of Trend Daily.

There's a lot going on, but if you look carefully,
you can spot our kitchen, living room and spare bedroom!!
A little trip down memory lane!
