Pastry cutters...

Today I fell in love...

with an unassuming tin on the shelf in the charity shop.

 Only this morning, the family of an old lady

 dropped in her possessions. 

We spend our entire lives

 collecting, upgrading, improving.

 How sad to see so many wonderful and

 well loved simple, everyday objects end up in  a cardboard box.

 I will give some of them a good home for her and

 photograph them for everyone to enjoy...

The brilliant Mary Portas has done,

 and continues to do, more than her fair share

 in raising awareness of the British High Street,

 and the importance of supporting small businesses.

 Great Missenden is emerging

 as a shining example of local, independent

 shops opening up and not only surviving, but thriving. 

Here are a few purchases I made

 a couple of weeks ago-some books and frames

 from the charity shops (which I also used for an earlier post here) 

and some gorgeous resin dipped mushrooms

 that I found in one of our brilliant home and gift shops 'Big Sky'.

Mini Moodboards

On A Postcard...

For my first post on mini moodboards,

 I used Pantone postcards.

 A few weeks ago, I stopped in at Liberty

 on the way home and found

 these great metal tags and green bakers twine by RE.

 The buttons came with last month's

 Mollie Makes

 and the old keys come from my bits and bobs box!

Nature Study...

Autumn Part 2...

We have seeds, dried flower heads,

 dead plants and leaves pretty much all round

 the bedroom (not to mention the drying garlic in the study,

 which almost knocks you out when you go in the room).

 I'm not saying I'm going to throw them out-

because I find that very hard to do,

 but I took some shots of them before Jon does-

because he doesn't!

 The leaves are just beginning to turn

 and our house is gradually filling up with

 all sorts of windfall picked up on the school run!

 I tried a few practice shots

 after I dropped Evie and Gabriel off-

The Cloth House London 

The Cloth House at 47 and 98 Berwick Street

 has become a London Institution for designers and crafters alike.

 Set up in 1984, I first paid them a visit whilst

 at University and hadn't been back until this Summer.

Both shops are a veritable Alladin's Cave of all things 'cloth,' 

 with their buyers travelling the world to source

 individual and unique collections. The company works as closely

 as possible with local traders and craftsmen 

to keep traditional skills alive. 

They stock the largest variety of jersey 

and felt in the UK, as well as lace,

 trimmings, and vintage buttons to name but a few.
