Mini Makes...Display Box

Flowers in a glass box...

Earlier this week  I finished a lovely shoot in Spitalfields,
which I really look forward to sharing with you in January.
It was the last day of the stormy weather
and the sky turned black so early,
that we lost the chance to photograph everything
we had hoped to, but that's one of the hazards
 shooting during the Winter months!

Meanwhile, I had a few things left over,
including this glass display box from the fabulous
ethical mail order gift company Nkuku
and some hyacinths and narcissi from my
 favourite local florist Velvet Brown
The lovely distressed shutter is from The Home Barn.
I found the little Gisela Graham bird in our box of christmas decorations
which I just got out for the kids and I
couldn't resist including it!

As these flowers are still fresh and not yet dried or pressed
(can you preserve a hyacinth anyone?!),
I guess it's not strictly a 'permanent' make,
but I'll still call it the first in my Mini Make series!
I simply cut out a piece of card and covered it with
Les Fougeres by Brunschwig & Fils to fit snugly inside the box.
The flowers and bulb have just been laid inside for this post,
but I will work on preserving them for a permanent display next time!
I hope you enjoy the pictures.
