a visit to...woonbeurs, amsterdam
woonbeurs... vt wonen barn
I think it was 1996 when I first laid eyes on what was to become my all time favourite magazine-VT Wonen. The Dutch just have that certain something when it comes to decorating and styling their homes. A quirky mix of Scandinavian clean and simple, with a dose of ethnic and vintage thrown in for good measure. I just love everything about their sense of style.
A couple of weekends ago, I threw caution to the wind and jumped on a flight for the last day of Woonbeurs in Amsterdam. Technically speaking it's an interiors trade fair, but with the huge added bonus of featuring stands from Holland's top interior magazines. Today I'd love to share with you my snaps from the VT Wonen Barn-my first and favourite stop. They showcased designers, craftsman and artists at work on the ground floor, along with a bakery and cafe, a vintage style barber's shop and an upstairs potting shed. It was fun, inventive and inspiring.
If you get the chance to visit Amsterdam next year and love interiors, then co-ordinate your trip with Woonbeurs 2014.
Thank you so much for posting this round up of your fave design spots from woonbeurs, Caroline! I was just talking with Gudy in L.A. and we were saying how sad we were to miss it and that we hope to go next year!
