Press Launches - Vitra

vitra accessories for 2018...

The essence of Swiss furniture manufacturer Vitra is 'to improve the quality of homes, offices and public spaces through the power of design.' Since the 1950s it has worked with leading designers to produce furniture pieces of beauty, with a timeless quality. We all would have come across their products by Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, Antonio Citterio, Eero Saarinen, to name but a few, from airport lounges to shop fit outs, office spaces and our own homes-if we are lucky enough to own an original!

This week Vitra held a London candle-making workshop in conjunction with Earl East of London at the gorgeous concept store, Bonds in Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross. It was the perfect opportunity to see the growing range of Vitra accessories...

My absolute favourite and apparently with Charles and Ray Eames too-The House Bird, designed in 1946, looking at home on my office shelf where it resides when it's not used for propping on shoots with me!

Brand new for 2018, the House Bird in walnut.

The stunning table radio in walnut blew me away. Designed, unbelievably, in 1946, the Eames could never get it into production.  It is part of a limited edition run of 999 units, so get one whilst you can.

One of three new designs in the Akari Light Sculpture range. Originally designed in 1951 by Isamu Noguchi, they have been produced by hand using washi paper in Japan since the 1970s.

I love the Toolbox, designed by Arik Levy, 2010. There are now 7 new colours in the 2018 range.

Bond's lifestyle store in Coal Drops Yard. Coffee, shopping, workshops and events in one space.

Earl Of East Perfumery at the rear of Bond's where we were lucky enough to make our own scented candles!

Beautiful table setting, ready for the workshop.
