my styling for the launch of blue gigi...
Meet Leila Brink, Mum of 3 and owner of brand new Moroccan rug emporium Blue Gigi. A few months ago, I had the pleasure to work with Leila and photographer Paul Craig on her very first shots for the launch of her new brand. Leila turned up at the fabulous Brixton East Studios with her 4x4 laden from top to bottom with rugs and props and we literally got stuck in! We had great fun putting the shots together in a pretty tight timescale, which makes you think on the hoof and gets the adrenalin running!
Having travelled to Morocco and Egypt many times as a child with her parents, Leila grew up with a love and appreciation of the decorative beauty in the painstakingly and lovingly handcrafted pieces that adorned people's homes. It was during a holiday on the Ile de Re that Leila met Vincent Bas, and so began the story of Blue Gigi. Vincent introduced Leila to the historical traditions, methods and meanings of tribal rugs in Morocco from his home in Marakkech and together they now source the best they can find for clients' homes here in the UK.
Blue Gigi is a truly personalised rug-finding service, where the client's needs, tastes and home are carefully considered before recommendations are made by Leila. And if she doesn't have in stock exactly what you need, she and Vincent will source it for you. Each piece is chosen for its 'meaning, history and beauty,' and what I loved about them was that each one is truly individual and unique-real investment pieces and family heirlooms.
I hope you like the shots we put together and do jump over to Leila's brand new website!
