A Colour Story...

Chrysanthemums...

The farmer's wife in our village has
a little stall at the front of her house, with
an honesty box to raise money for Cancer Relief.
 People make donations-anything from
books and plants to jams and eggs.
I love stopping by and this time we picked
 up some chrysanthemums...

Have a lovely weekend.

Launch-Orla Kiely

Orla Kiely and Harlequin...

For the past two weeks,
London has been the hub of creativity,
starting with The London Design Festival
Focus/12 and Decorex, which both finish today.
Decorex and Focus were chosen
as the launch pads for the signature collection
and new collaboration between iconic designer

Orla's instantly recognizable style
 has become one of the
leading brands in the UK since
it was founded in 1995, depicting her
love of pattern, colour and texture.
Originally available as bags
and accessories, the label has quickly
 grown to incorporate ready-to-wear,
homeware, furniture,
travel accessories, stationery, fragrance
 and now wallpapers.

The collection features her
distinctive graphic and stylized motifs,
with strong links to the mid-century style.
 Comprizing fourteen existing designs,
 colouring and re-scaling have been
 adapted with wallpaper in mind,
to produce a
'fashion-led yet timeless wallpaper collection.'

Mini Moodboards...

Pantone Postcards...

Last week I played around with some
 Pantone colour postcards.
The behind the scenes peak is of my
vintage kitchen table from our lovely neighbours.
It actually sits in front of our window in the bedroom...

Variation On A Theme

Faded Glory...

I have always found it hard throwing flowers away.
My friend Tish commented on the fact (in a nice way!),
that there are as many dead flowers
 around the house as living.

Looking around today, I'd say there are actually
 more dead than living.
If they're not still in vases or containers,
 they're probably attached to postcards,
hanging on the wall or even from an empty frame.

Anyway, today's shots are simply
of the flowers themselves-no props, no styling.
 I hope you like them!

Behind The Scenes...

A Garage Shoot...

Last week I had exactly two hours to spare
before collecting the kids from school.
The weather was fantastic and Jon's little TR4
was out of the garage, so I decided to invade
and put together a make-shift studio!

Nothing was planned-just bits and pieces I had lying
around and a quick trawl to the back of the neighbour's garden
(as usual) for the fern...

The bench, lamp and plant all came from the kitchen.

The distilling jar was £2.50 from the charity shop.

Jon painted a spare piece of MDF with blackboard paint for the kids-
they haven't had a chance to use it yet!

One of our 1970's (I think) charity shop chairs, vintage Sanderson cushion
and retro tangerine trim phone!

I bought this jacket last year and wear it most of the time-
it looked very at home hung on the garage wall.

Washi tape and fern.

Charity shop books, Grandad Gordon's Pentax.

The dried flower on the right can be seen in it's original
form from my earlier post-the first shot.

Practicing with blurry backgrounds-a christmas decoration
on top of the radio and the window behind.

The dried rose will feature in a later post...

One of the vintage postcards from Dad's loft box,
which I originally featured here.

The postcard in the middle actually has an old grape stalk
that I found on the ground outside-
the kids no longer bat an eye-lid when I
start picking up rubbish to photograph.

Needless to say, I had to clear out before Jon got back from work-
it is the only part of the house not overtaken
with my props...
It made a great little studio though, so next time the sun's out
I may try out a few more ideas just for fun.
Hope you like them-a few extra
shots made it to Instagram, which has become a bit of a testing
ground for shots before they make the blog!

Raw Ingredients...

Garlic...

My neighbour Mandy always drops round odds
and ends before she goes away.
In with the latest batch were 3 garlic bulbs,
which I found at the back of the fridge a few weeks later!

They're now drying in my office which doesn't
smell too good. Gabriel decided it would be a good idea to
lick a few to see what they
tasted like. Mmm...
